What does my child need to bring to camp?

Accepted Answer

Campers are asked to bring the following with them to camp:
3-4 pairs of shorts/skirts
Jumpers and tracksuits
Pocket money (in coins if possible)
Swimming togs for showers
2 pairs of tennis shoes
Pair of sandals/sliders for free time (applies to Border and Day campers)
Plenty of t-shirts
Baseball hats, shirts with collars and plenty of sunblock to protect against the sun
Rain jacket
Towel
Plenty of sports socks
2 racquets if possible
Reusable water bottle
Coded lock (not key) for lockers if your child wishes to store valuables.

Additionally:
Please note that due to allergies, any nut products (spreads, cereal bars, chocolate containing nuts etc.) are not permitted at camp. We would ask that you check the labels of food your child is bringing carefully before arrival. 
Any medications should be clearly labelled with your child's name and handed in at registration to be stored safely in camp office where necessary. Please provide details under medical information when completing registration.
No smartphones or devices are permitted at camp. Full details can be found in our Electronics Policy

Question 2

Do children need to bring any additional food with them?

Accepted Answer

They may bring a few snack items if they wish but all meals are provided in the cafeteria. There will be a tuck shop open at the camp every day if they wish to buy something. Please note that no nut products are permitted at camp.

What does a typical day look like in the camp?

*The Evening Sessions may be individual or small groups working with a coach. Doubles and free play also available. For those wishing to take a break from tennis other sports activities or movie night will be available.

Question 4

Can my child stay in a dorm with their friend?

Accepted Answer

Of course! At Bolster Tennis Camp we want to make sure all our campers have an enjoyable stay and we endeavour to accommodate friends together. Simply include your child's friend's name in the box upon registration.
As we often have campers who come by themselves to camp we try to sort accommodation by age as well as friends and therefore cannot guarantee that large groups of friends will be in the same dorm whilst trying to remain inclusive of all our campers.

Question 5

Are children allowed any electronic devices or phones at camp?

Accepted Answer

Smartphones, smartwatches (including watches that can make calls) and devices that can access the internet are not permitted at camp.

Your child may bring a simple phone that does not have the facility to access the internet if you wish to contact them while at camp.

Children will have access to these phones for a limited period of time each day.

Question 6

How much does it cost to send my child to camp?

Accepted Answer

There are two options, Boarding and Day Camp. 
 
If boarding, campers will stay overnight in dorms in Kilkenny College for the week. Their coaching, accommodation and meals are included in the price of €695. Second and subsequent siblings have a reduced rate of €680. 
 
Day campers will avail of the same camp activities, coaching and meals but will not stay overnight. The price per child is €495.
Second and subsequent siblings have a reduced rate of €480.
 
A deposit of €100 (€102.50 including service fee) is initially required to secure your child's place at camp. The balance of the camp cost will be paid at registration on the 21st of June by cash or cheque only. We do not have card facilities at Kilkenny College.

Question 7

How do I pay?

You can easily pay your deposit online by:
Selecting the Book Online tab to bring you to our application form.
Once you fill in your child's details you can select Proceed to Pay Deposit where you can pay the €100 non-refundable deposit to book your child's place.
The remaining balance will be paid upon arrival to camp on the 22nd of June at registration. Balance for boarding is €510 and for day pupils is €300.
Please note that cash or cheque are the only available payment options at camp. Please make cheques payable to Billy Bolster.

Question 8

Is bed linen provided?

Accepted Answer

Yes duvets, sheets and pillows are provided but children need to bring their own towels.

Question 9

What time is drop off and pick up for camp?

Accepted Answer

Arrival
Boarders will arrive for registration at 4:00pm on Sunday 21st of June. Day pupils will arrive at 5:00pm for orientation, dinner and tennis. 
 
Departure
All campers will finish at 5:00pm on Friday 26th of June after prize-giving.
 
If your child needs to leave earlier or will be taken off campus at any stage during the week please ensure that a parent/guardian sign out at the camp office.

Question 10

What times do day campers arrive and leave at each day?

They are welcome to stay from 9am-9pm if they wish but they can be collected anytime after formal coaching finishes at 5.30. 
They must sign in and out daily.

Question 11

Where can I purchase camp T-shirts?

Accepted Answer

You can purchase camp t-shirts at registration or collection or campers can buy them at the office throughout the week. 
The cost is €25 per t-shirt.
